Jalen Carter was charged with reckless driving that killed two people

Georgia football player Jalen Carter has been charged with reckless driving and racing in connection with a fatal crash that killed two people.

Carter was due to attend the NFL scouting combine but did not show up for media interviews.

He issued a statement on his Twitter account denying any wrongdoing and stating his intention to return to Athens to face the charges.

The Athens police found evidence that Carter and the other driver were racing and driving recklessly.

The other driver had a blood-alcohol concentration of .197 at the time of the crash.
